About us

Welcome to the Royal arms, Ruth, Robin and all the staff wish you a warm welcome to our gem of a true country pub, not many of us left!
We welcome well behaved dogs and children in all parts of our cosy pub.
Dotted around the pub you will find a few popular board games to help entertain our younger customers
All of our food is freshly prepared by our chefs here on the premises, at busy times they may be a slight delay, please bear with us whilst we cook your food.
A little history of the Royal Arms
Originally built in 1860 as two cottages to house weavers that worked the local Hollinshead Mill, this was situated at the rear of our now carpark. Around 10 years later these two cottages where knocked together to form an Ale house to serve the thirst of the weavers after their long shifts. The first recorded landlord of the then Garstangs pub was a 26 six year old quarryman James Whipp.
In 1873 Thomas Whipp (possibly James father) sold the land and pub to Thwaites Brewery where it remained in their hands for well over a century
Now privately owned we enter into the next chapter and history of this unique rural pub!

Join Us For A Beer!

At our pub, we proudly offer our guests to taste our best types of beer brewed from carefully selected
barley, wheat and hops. Take a look below to learn more about our best beers.

PILSNER

It’s a clean and simple pale lager and one of the more popular beer varieties.

STOUTS

Stouts have an unclear history, yet it’s strongly held by many that they derive from porters.

PALE ALE

Pale ale is one of the world’s most popular beer styles. It’s made with the use of pale malt.

BROWN ALE

It’s a very old style beer, whose history dates back to unhopped ales.
