A little history of the Royal Arms
Originally built in 1860 as two cottages to house weavers that worked the local Hollinshead Mill, this was situated at the rear of our now carpark. Around 10 years later these two cottages where knocked together to form an Ale house to serve the thirst of the weavers after their long shifts. The first recorded landlord of the then Garstangs pub was a 26 six year old quarryman James Whipp.
In 1873 Thomas Whipp (possibly James father) sold the land and pub to Thwaites Brewery where it remained in their hands for well over a century
Now privately owned we enter into the next chapter and history of this unique rural pub!
